Wash Those Clothes

I wash my expensive hiking clothing very carefully and never dry them in a hot dryer. Sleeping bags may need to be dried in a commercial dryer to restore their fluff but that is the only item that should ever be placed in a heated clothes dryer.

I wash pants, shirts, and underwear after each use but my waterproof shells and fleece coats are only washed after many uses and I wash them without soap.

When I lend clothing out to friends, I'm careful to ask them not to launder any item. I have a shell that is not the same after being dried in a hot dryer, and those are expensive to replace.

When it comes to washing your outdoor clothing, error on the side of caution.
