Night Rain

So what happens when during the night you get that unexpected rain? Well, you will receive exactly according to your preparation. If you set up your tent you will probably be dry and warm in the morning, but if you were lazy and sleep under the stars, you will be wet and cold.

Once on a summer hike we all set up our tents except for three boys that would not, even when we asked them.

During the night an unexpected cold storm arrived and we got rain mixed with hail. At 9,000+ feet we rose in the morning to a cold cloudy day but the three boys were also very wet. We camped in an area that did not allow open fires, so we had to head to a lower elevation so we could dry out the boys and their gear. All turned out well except their foolhardiness put us all at risk.
