Waterwheel
Falls is located at the head of the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne. This
waterfall is not your typical type. What you see is the water in the
Tuolumne River making rooster tails as the water passes over large
rocks embedded in the solid granite river bed.
As the
flow of the Tuolumne Rives goes so goes the rooster tails or in other
words low water flow makes for a very small waterwheels but high water
makes very large waterwheels.
The
hike from Tuolumne Meadows to Glen Aulin and on to Waterwheel Falls
in Yosemite National Park was enjoyable but it is not on my list for
a repeat visit.
