The
mist trail hike to Vernal Falls is my all-time favorite spring hike.
In May the waterfall is at full flow and the mist from Vernal Falls
is guaranteed to soak you to the bone.
If you
hike to Vernal in the summer or fall you will find the water flow quite
low. In the winter and spring the park closes the Mist Trail because
of rock fall danger but you can reach the falls on the John Muir trail.
Hike
this trail early in the day to avoid the crowds. The below right picture
was taken on the trail leading from Vernal Falls to the John Muir trail.
