Ridge Lake lies at the base of Granite Dome in Emigrant Wilderness. It is circled by a ring of large rocks formed by a glacier. This ring makes it difficult to reach the lake from your camp sites, except at the lake's outlet.

Ridge Lake can not be seen from a distance therefore you need to know where its located to find it easily.

I have hiked to Ridge Lake four times and plan to make the trip every couple of years. All the lakes on Granite Dome can not be beat for their beauty and isolation. Seldom do you see a fellow hiker on the Dome.
