North
Peak is a wonderful mountain to climb. I have reached the summit in
May, just one week after the Tioga Road opened, and again in late July.
The
May hike was a snow climb with crampons and ice axe because the snow-covered
slopes are very steep. The July hike had very little snow but lots
of broken and lose rocks.
The
view of Mount Conness and its lakes from North Peak are the greatest.
A must hike! Camp over at Saddlebag Lake so you can get an early hiking
start.
This
peak is located just outside Yosemite National Park.
