Climbing Mount Lyell from Tuolumne Meadows is a full 3 day hiking experience; one day in, one day to summit and one day out.

When I make this climb to Lyell I plan to do it in July before the snow pack melts and gets icy and after the rivers subside. The trail head quota for upper Lyell canyon is only 10 per day, therefore you will need to pre-register for your wilderness permit.

Mount Lyell is the highest mountain in Yosemite National Park and always has snow on its North Face. The top right picture was taken from the top of Mount Dana.
