Ancel Adams Wilderness

These pictures show Mount Banner in Ancel Adams Wilderness as it can only be seen from Thousand Lakes. What a beautiful high altitude area to enjoy the outdoors.

There is a Class 2 snow climbing summit route on the west side of Mount Banner. I learned about it in the book The High Sierra Peaks but you will need to read High Sierra Route to find out how to get around Banner to reach this West side route. As you get close to Banner you will find lots of talus to hike on and the later in the fall the more talus will be exposed. Earlier in the year these talus fields are covered with snow which makes for much easier hiking.
