Hiking and climbing guidebooks are like computer programs, one program does not perform all the functions you want and need. I use these books in combination to obtain different points of view and varied details about a hike or climb. I also use these books to plan out trips I would love to take, but cannot find the time.

Here is a good example: I found how to climb Mount Banner from the book,The High Sierra Peaks, but I found how to get around to the back side of the mountain where the climbing route was located in the book, Sierra High Route. I needed both books to plan the climb.
